This crap made all movies nowadays unwatchable, now it is starting to infect the former, lenghty quality Tv-shows as well. Gone are the days of Colin Farrell’s cocaine pull-ups, Rachel McAdams’ decorative knife dummy, and Vince Vaughn’s profound soliloquies about pure golden Stan. Early episodes that seemed to be merely good have taken on more meaning. Just enough like season 1 to feel like a real follow-up, but the characters and the world are so distinct that it doesn't feel like an attempt to repeat past glory. Notably, we barely saw any of these characters, and we experienced them mainly via secondhand dudes: Hoyt and Junius mourning lost Isabel, Junius and Tom pondering wherefore Julie, Wayne’s hallucination of Amelia conjuring up a circle of secretive nuns at an empty gravesite. Ali is as focused as Hays on the job, this comes out most clearly when Hays gets distracted outside the job. It's an ambitious and imperfect work, beautiful and corny, believable and less believable by turns. The acting is very strong. Ali is excellent as Hays.
