The will of God, as revealed through them, should be accepted in humility; this brings inner enlightenment and true understanding of the world, and this leads to great good fortune and success. For the possibility of exerting a lasting influence arises of itself and no one can interfere. This bring good fortune. Thus reverence is the foundation of true culture. It is symbolized by thunder, which bursts forth from the earth and by its shock causes fear and trembling. While the Abysmal sinks, the upward movement eventually passes beyond the danger. Each according to his kind. Everything remains barren. Thunder--electrical energy--mounts upward in the spring. This describes the situation of a person who possesses good qualities but neglects them. A third indication of conflict, in terms of character, is presented by the combination of deep cunning within and fixed determination outwardly. He no longer sees in it the struggle and tumult of individual beings, and therefore he has that true peace of mind which is needed for understanding the great laws of the universe and for acting in harmony with them. Clarity prevails when mild and severepenalties are differentiated, according to the nature of the crimes.This is symbolized by the clarity of lighting. Here, clarity is within and strength without--the character of a peaceful union of men, which, in order to hold together, needs one yielding nature among many firm persons. Perseverance brings good fortune. If the right helper is found, all goes well. To hold firmly to great creative powers and store them up, as set forth in this hexagram, there is need of a strong, clear-headed man who is honored by the ruler.

Nothing that would not further. If a man allows himself to be dazzled by fame, he will soon be criticized, and difficulties will arise. The picture is that of a sage who stands outside the affairs of the world. Now the situation is such that everything is easy; there is no more resistance.
